Day 1 : Homeport to Hobart via Melbourne Wednesday 12th March

After a home pickup, we join our early afternoon flight to Hobart travelling via Melbourne. Enjoy a meal on your flight.

Day 2 : Hobart Thursday 13th March

This morning, we will enjoy a sightseeing tour of Hobart, including a visit to the botanical gardens. We will stop in the city for you to enjoy lunch at your leisure. After lunch, you are free to explore Hobart or visit the Mona Gallery (optional), and return to the Hotel in time for our evening meal.

Day 3: Hobart and Port Arthur Friday 14th March

This morning we are off to historic Port Arthur travelling through Dunalley, a prosperous fishing village, to Eaglehawk Neck.  In convict days a line of ferocious tethered dogs guarded this narrow isthmus, which separates the Tasman from the Forestier Peninsula. On our trip from Hobart we visit the Blowhole, Tasman Arch, and Devil’s Kitchen.

On reaching Port Arthur settlement, we enjoy a short harbour cruise past the Isle of the Dead, and then return to stroll around the many ruins of the settlement.

Day 4: Strahan via Queenstown Saturday 15th March

Early start this morning, departing Port Arthur and travelling to New Norfolk. Then onto Mount Field National Park, where we enjoy the short walk to Russell Falls before continuing on to Tarraleah and Derwent Bridge. We will visit The Wall in the Wilderness to see the stunning work of artist Greg Duncan this afternoon.  The Wall is one man’s incredible talent on display as he carved three-metre-high wooden panels, telling the history of the Central Highlands of Tasmania. We continue onto Queenstown, before reaching our accommodation at Strahan, a picturesque fishing village on the west coast of Tasmania.

Day 5: Strahan and Surrounds, Gordon River Cruise Sunday 16th April

This morning we enjoy a harbour cruise through the magnificent Macquarie Harbour and famous Gordon River.  We visit Hells Gate, the entrance to the great Southern Ocean before entering the majestic Gordon River with its mirror like reflections – Huon Pine trees and wilderness boardwalk at Sarah Island. This afternoon we will have some free time to explore the beautiful village of Strahan.

Day 6: Cradle Mountain via Zeehan Monday 17th March

Today we travel via Zeehan to Cradle Mountain. After lunch we join the local buses for the trip to Cradle Mountain. If you wish, and the weather behaves, you will have the option of walking around Dove Lake. This evening we will enjoy a wonderful dinner at the Chateau.

Day 7: Stanley Tuesday 18th March

Today we coach through the beautiful countryside of the North West of Tasmania, before reaching the quaint little seaside village of Stanley. You have the option to take a ride on the chairlift at The Nut, an ancient volcanic formation overlooking the village and Bass Strait, before heading to our accommodation for this evening.

Day 8: Launceston Wednesday 19th March

Our return journey takes us back through Burnie before heading to the beautiful town of Sheffield for our lunch stop which is renowned for its murals. We then travel on to Anvers Chocolate Factory. You can sample and purchase some of the handmade chocolate truffles and fudge or buy a coffee or ice-cream. We will visit the stunning Cataract Gorge on arrival to the beautiful city of Launceston and then on to our accommodation for the next two nights.

Day 9: Launceston free day Thursday 20th March

Following breakfast at your leisure, you have the rest of the day to enjoy Launceston and take some time to look around the city. Tonight, you can dine at one of the many options around the centrally located accommodation.

Day 10: Bicheno via Ross Friday 21st March

This morning we depart Launceston and head to the historic township of Ross. You will have the opportunity to get some lunch at Ross before we head across to visit Freycinet National Park where we enjoy a walk to the Cape Tourville Lighthouse. We continue onto our overnight accommodation at Swansea.

Day 11: Bicheno to Hobart Saturday 22nd March

Plenty of time to explore the quant seaside town before we travel to Hobart for our final night and farewell dinner.

Day 12: Hobart to home Sunday 23rd March

This morning we head off from the hotel and fly back to New Zealand via Melbourne. You will be transferred home on arrival.
