This tour starts in Christchurch, heads through Hanmer Springs, two nights in Nelson and then three nights each in Golden Bay and Blenheim. Highlights include a tour to Farewell spit, the mailboat run in the Marlborough Sounds and the famous Nelson Saturday markets plus much more. Add to this a visit to three of the top gardens in the top of the south and it is a real taste of the area.

Day 1: Homeport to Hanmer Springs via Christchurch

After a home pickup by shuttle or taxi, you will have a morning flight to Christchurch. Once we have the whole tour party together we will head up to Hanmer Springs, arriving late afternoon. You will have plenty of time to explore the village and get yourself some dinner for the evening. You may also like to visit the hot pools here which are only 100m from our hotel.

Day 2: Hanmer to Nelson

Following breakfast, we will board the coach and head over the picturesque Lewis Pass. We then head through Maruia and explore Murchison on our way through to sunny Nelson and our accommodation for the evening at the Rutherford Hotel. You will arrive in plenty of time to have a look around Nelson prior to dinner at the Hotel.

Day 3: Nelson

After an enjoyable breakfast at the Hotel, you will have the opportunity to spend time in Nelson city with the famous Nelson Saturday market on today. This afternoon we will do a tour of the area including a visit to the  magnificient Thackwood gardens. Tonight you can enjoy dinner at one of the marvellous cafes and restaurants close by the Hotel.

Day 4: Nelson to Takaka

After a leisurely breakfast at the Hotel, we will head to Tasman Village cottage and its amazing cottage garden. From here we will head to Motueka where you can have a look around and take the opportunity to grab some lunch. Following lunch, we will head over the hill to Takaka, our stop for the next three nights. We will enjoy a meal at a local restaurant this evening.

Day 5: Farewell Spit

Following a continental breakfast in the room, you have a leisurely morning where you can relax and venture to Takaka for an early lunch. Early afternoon, the coach will head north to Collingwood. Here we will join with expert local tour guides to take us on a tour along Farewell Spit. This tour includes Fossil Point and travel along the dunes to the lighthouse at the end of the spit. You will enjoy a boxed picnic dinner out here on the spit and then, on return to Collingwood we will be returning to Takaka for the evening.

Day 6: Golden Bay

After a relaxed start and breakfast at the motel, you will explore more of the area around Golden Bay. This will include visiting the Pupu springs, Anatoki Eels amongst other things. Tonight, you have the opportunity to dine at one the Cafes or restaurants in Takaka.

Day 7: Takaka to Blenheim via Abel Tasman

Today we farewell Takaka. After Breakfast, a local coach will collect us and take us over to Totaranui at the Northern end of the Abel Tasman National Park. We will board a Water Taxi and take a trip back through Abel Tasman National Park, stopping along the way to pick up and drop people off as necessary. This is a great way of seeing the park and the Golden beaches from the comfort of the water taxi. On arrival in Kaiteriteri, we will rejoin our tour coach and head back through Nelson and over the hill to the Scenic Hotel Blenheim where we will be staying the next three nights.

Day 8: Marlborough Sounds Mailboat

Following breakfast, the coach will take us out to the fishing village of Havelock. We will board the comfort of the Mailboat and enjoy the run into the Pelorus Sound. This trip is a part of the New Zealand Post postal service and we will be meeting some of the characters of the Marlborough sounds as we drop off their mail and supplies. We will stop at a café/restaurant where we will disembark and enjoy a hearty lunch before returning to our Hotel late afternoon. Tonight you are free to enjoy dinner at one of the many options around Blenheim.

Day 9: Blenheim Surrounds

Following a delicious breakfast, we will head out to the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre for a guided tour of this spectacular collection of historic aircraft and various wartime memorabilia. We will then head to a wine tasting and lunch at Brancott Estates magnificient restaurant, overlooking the vineyards that make this area famous. This afternoon we will make our way back to the Hotel via one of the local gardens which will be in pristine condition from last weeks Marlborough garden festival. We will then freshen up at the hotel before heading out to a farewell dinner to be remembered.

Day 10: Blenheim to Christchurch and home

Following breakfast, we will head off down the Kaikoura coast through to Christchurch. We will take our time along the coast with its spectacular vistas. We will visit Winterholme Gardens(subject to being open) which is spectacular at this time of year. We will stop in Kaikoura for lunch before heading back to Christchurch for your late afternoon flight and taxi or shuttle which will drop you to your door.
