This tour takes in the best of the South. With 2 nights on Stewart Island, a day trip up the Catlins from Invercargill and an unforgettable overnight stay on Doubtful Sound, it truely is a once in a lifetime experience

Day 1: Homeport to Invercargill

After a home pick up by shuttle you will fly to Invercargill where you will be transferred to our hotel for the evening, the Ascot. We will have a welcome meal this evening where you will meet your fellow passengers.

Hotel: Ascot Invercargill (Dinner)

Day 2: Catlins Coast

Following our cooked breakfast, we will be collected from the Hotel by a local coach for a day tour of the Catlins coast. This is a wild and often unvisited part of the South Island. You will be surprised by many of the great beaches and unique features the Catlins has to offer.

After a stop for lunch, we will continue our way along the coast, returning to Invercargill for the evening.

Day 3: Invercargill to Stewart Island

After breakfast, we go to Invercargill airport for the short flight to Stewart Island. We will be collected from the airport and enjoy an informative introductory tour of Stewart Island. Following lunch we will enjoy a local cinema special. The rest of the afternoon is yours to enjoy the quaint Stewart Island hospitality or many of the short walks nearby. You are free to dine at your leisure this evening. Following dinner, you have the optional extra of a kiwi spotting experience. Adequate fitness is required for this activity.

Day 4: Ulva Island and Stewart Island

This morning we will go on a tour of the Ulva Island Bird Sanctuary with the knowledgeable local guides where you will enjoy the flora and fauna of this area. Be sure to pack binoculars if you have some as these will come in handy. We will then enjoy a boat tour of the surrounding areas and becoming more familiar with the unique history of Stewart Island. A “lunchbox” lunch will be provided. We will return to base early afternoon where the rest of the afternoon is yours to relax. We will have dinner together at South Sea Hotel this evening.

Day 5: Stewart Island to Invercargill

Following breakfast we will join our morning flights back to Invercargill. Once back in Invercargill, you will have some time to look around the city and enjoy some lunch. After lunch we head to Transport World, Invercargill and see this world leading collection of Trucks, Dresses, artifacts and so forth. Subject to opening by then, you will also have the option of operating your own piece of heavy machinery in their “Dig This” operation.

We will then head back to the Ascot Hotel for the evening.

Day 6: Invercargill to Te Anau via South Coast

Following breakfast we will head west from Invercargill along the South Coast and through to Te Anau. Our journey takes us through Riverton, Orepuki and Tuatapere.

On arrival to Te Anau we will visit the Te Anau bird Sanctuary which is involved with the regeneration of the Takahe population in the area.

Our wonderful accommodation for the evening includes the taste of Fiordland menu which is sure to please.

Day 7: Doubtful Sound

Following a leisurely breakfast we will be collected from the Hotel for our trip into the magnificient Doubtful sound for the evening. This includes a boat trip across Lake Manapouri, then up and over the Wilmot Pass to join the Fiordland Navigator for your overnight cruise. Highlights include the many waterfalls and abundant wildlife which will be explained in full by the dedicated onboard nature guide. Experience the sound of silence in complete comfort with a magnificient buffet meal to finish the day. Truly a once in a lifetime experience

Day 8: Doubtful Sound to Te Anau

Following a full buffet breakfast, we will retrace our steps back to Te Anau. Part of this mornings trip includes a complete shutdown of all engines, motors etc on the Fiordland Navigator so you can experience as close to complete silence as can be achieved.

We then re trace our steps to Te Anau where you can enjoy lunch and a relaxing afternoon in town or at the hotel before our farewell meal this evening.

Day 9: Queenstown and home

Following a lovely breakfast, we will board our coach and head through to Queenstown to connect with your flight home where you will be met by a taxi or shuttle to be transferred to your door.  (Breakfast)
