Itinerary

Day 1: Homeport to Hobart via Melbourne

After a home pickup, we join our flight to Hobart travelling via Melbourne. Enjoy a meal on your flight as well as an evening meal on arrival.

Day 2: Hobart

This morning we will enjoy a sightseeing tour of Hobart and we will then travel to the township of Richmond for a lunch stop. After lunch you are free to explore Hobart or visit the Mona Gallery(Optional) and return to the Hotel at your leisure in time for our evening meal at Pier 51 restaurant.

Day 3: Hobart and Port Arthur

This morning we are off to historic Port Arthur travelling through Dunalley, a prosperous fishing village, to Eaglehawk Neck.  In convict days a line of ferocious tethered dogs guarded this narrow isthmus which separates the Tasman from the Forestier Peninsula.  Soldiers and Constables also stood guard to make sure that no convicts escaped from the notorious convict settlement of Port Arthur.

On reaching Port Arthur settlement we enjoy a short harbour cruise past the Isle of the Dead and then return to stroll around the many ruins of the settlement.   On our return trip to Hobart we visit the Blowhole, Tasman Arch and Devil's Kitchen. This evening you are free to try one of the many restaurants at the Casino or located nearby on the waterfront.

Day 4: Strahan via Queenstown

Early start this morning, departing Hobart and travelling to New Norfolk. Then onto Mount Field National Park where we enjoy the short walk to Russell Falls before continuing on to Tarraleah and Lake St. Before lunch we visit The Wall in the Wilderness to see the stunning work of artist Greg Duncan.  The Wall is a work in progress being carved from three metre high wooden panels, telling the history of the Central Highlands of Tasmania.  We continue onto Queenstown before reaching our accommodation at Strahan - a picturesque fishing village on the west coast of Tasmania.

Day 5: Strahan and Surrounds, Gordon River Cruise

Day 6: Cradle Mountain via Zeehan

Today we travel via Zeehan to Cradle Mountain. After lunch we join the local buses for the trip to Cradle Mountain. If you wish you will have the option of walking around Dove Lake. This evening enjoy a wonderful dinner at the Chateau.

Day 7: Stanley

Today we coach through the beautiful countryside of the North West of Tasmania before reaching the quaint little seaside village of Stanley. We take a ride on the chairlift at The Nut, an ancient volcanic formation overlooking the village and Bass Strait before heading to our accommodation for this evening.

Day 8: Launceston

Our return journey takes us back to Burnie for a short stop at Maker's Workshop, before heading to the beautiful town of Sheffield for our lunch stop which is renowned for its murals. We then travel on to Anvers Chocolate Factory. You can sample and purchase some of the handmade chocolate truffles and fudge or buy a coffee or ice-cream.   Travel on to the beautiful city of Launceston for our accommodation for the next three nights.

Day 9: Launceston free day

Following breakfast at your leisure, you have the rest of the day to enjoy Launceston and take some time to look around the city. You can dine tonight at one of the many options around the centrally located accommodation.

Day 10: Launceston and Surrounds

Following breakfast we head to the Cataract gorge for a stop at this magnificient natural feature, the hidden Jewel of Launceston. We then head to the Lavender house. Following lunch we head to Woolmers Estate for a tour of this magnificient homestead and an opportunity to view the National Rose Garden. We then head back to Launceston for the evening.

Day 11: Bicheno via Ross

This morning we depart Launceston and head to the historic township of Ross. You will have the opportunity to get some lunch at Ross before we head across to a visit at Nature Land, Bicheno where we enjoy a guided tour of this animal recovery park. On arrival to our accommodation at Bicheno you will have time to take a stroll along the beach and enjoy this coastal township.

Day 12: Bicheno to Hobart

This morning we will head into the Freycinet National Park where we will enjoy a walk to the Cape Tourville lighthouse. Our path then leads us back down the east coast of Tasmania, stopping for lunch at Swansea before arriving back at the Wrest Point hotel for our farewell dinner.

Day 13: Hobart to home

This morning we head off from the hotel and fly back to New Zealand via Melbourne. You will be transferred home on arrival.
