Day 1: Homeport to Cairns

After an early morning home pickup we join our flight to Cairns via Auckland. Enjoy Breakfast and Lunch on your flight. Early afternoon arrival.

Included meals: Breakfast, lunch, welcome dinner and Drinks

Day 2: Cairns

This morning we will enjoy a sightseeing tour of Cairns. Includes visit to the beautiful Cairns Botanical Gardens. Guided Tour here of the gardens. After lunch we travel by coach to the pretty village of Kuranda. Free time to explore and grab some lunch. We return to Cairns on the Skyrail Gondola. Evening at Leisure. Plenty of close-by attractions and restaurant’s to explore.

Day 3: Cairns to Port Douglas via Palm Cove

This morning we are off to the seaside village of Port Douglas via Palm Cove. We travel along the famous Captain Cook Highway alongside the Coral Sea. This Highway is voted one of the world’s most beautiful, and we hug the coastline for most of our 70k journey.

On arriving at tropical Port Douglas (early afternoon), you will be pleased to know that we have four wonderful relaxing nights here. The ideal opportunity to enjoy this unique seaside village – the closest to the Barrier Reef – and our resort complex, their pools, gardens and café’s. Plenty to keep busy or simply unwind!

This evening after our welcome dinner, feel free to head downtown and check-out the waterfront and the pretty village of Port. Free Shuttle-Bus tickets available for the duration of your stay.

Day 4: Daintree Rainforest

Get ready for a day visiting the World Heritage listed Daintree National Park. We travel today with BTS Tours, established in Port since 1985. Travel across (via car-ferry) the Daintree River… up to Cape Tribulation. Beach walk and rainforest boardwalk tour thru the world’s oldest remaining rainforest.

Tropical lunch in a true rainforest setting, along with a wilderness cruise crocspotting along Cooper’s Creek. Home of the world’s oldest reptile - the Saltwater Crocodile. Beautiful full day travelling thru this well known North Queensland iconic area.

Evening is at Leisure. Grab a shuttle downtown, or relax at Sheraton Mirage.

Day 5: Great Barrier Reef

This morning after breakfast we board our Quicksilver coach for our short transfer to the Marina. Here we join the award winning Quicksilver Wave-Piercer and travel out to the outer edge of the World Heritage listed Great Barrier Reef.

On the very edges of the reef system, clear water provides the best possible underwater visibility, encouraging rich coral growth and spectacular marine life. A truly wonderful day exploring the dramatic beauty of Agincourt Reef, with the Quicksilver moored alongside their huge floating pontoon.

Snorkel off Quicksilver’s lowered platform or hop inside their semi-submersible for a cruise around the reef system. All equipment, wet-suits and experienced Marine Biologists on board.

We have morning and afternoon tea as we cruise along. Plus a delicious hot and cold tropical smorgasbord lunch. 3hrs exploring the reef. A special day - one you wont forget! Bring your swimmers and camera!

Day 6: Port Douglas

We head out this morning for a visit to The Rainforest Habitat and “Breakfast with the Birds”. We spend a couple of hours here, and also have a guided tour thru the wetland, rainforest and savannah areas. Get up close to many of Australian Marsupial’s and Reptiles. Great photo opportunities!

After our wildlife park breakfast and tours, we have some free time in downtown Port Douglas. Enjoy lunch at one of the casual waterfront restaurants, stroll the 4-Mile Beach and Macrossan Street, and visit St Mary’s Church By The Sea.

This evening is free to either dine downtown, or head back to the Sheraton Mirage.

Rainforest Habitat – Tours & Breakfast with the Birds

Day 7: Port Douglas to the Outback via Tablelands

Today after an early breakfast and check-out, we head Westward and up onto the rich farming area known as the Tablelands. We make some interesting stops as we travel thru mountain ranges and small farming communities, well away from the coastal tourist areas. Visit Yungaburra and Atherton for our lunch break.

The country changes as we head further South/West into the Savannah areas of North Queensland. Stunning and remote. It’s a must to experience. Upon arrival at Bedrock Outback Village, meet our hosts – Joe and Jo.

Freshen up and enjoy the outback silence. Tonight we have our welcome dinner and drinks. Three nights here to enjoy something a little different!

Day 8: Mt Surprise and Undara Lava

After our hearty country home-cooked breakfast, we head towards the Gulf Savannah country and the fascinating Undara Lava Tubes; as ancient and alluring as the Australian continent itself. Walk in the path of a volcanic lava flow and observe natural geological wonders, a true link to Gondwana.

Day 9: Mt Surprise and Cobbold Gorge

After breakfast, we head off with our Bedrock tour-crew deep into the heart of the Gulf Savannah region of Outback Queensland. To the hidden oasis of Cobbold Gorge.

Aged at around 1.7m years, Cobbold is an ancient ocean floor, slowly built up to a thickness of 10k from sand and mud sediments.

We have a 3-hour tour here with our accredited Savannah Guides. Includes a Gorge cruise, tour and lunch. Enjoy this fabulous day.

Tonight we have a farewell Outback dinner, and a few yarns and star-gazing around the camp fire.

Day 10: Mt Surprise to Cairns, on the Savannahlander Train

After breakfast and our early check-out, we board this iconic classic 1960 train: The Savannahlander. And we make our (slow) way down from the Gulf Country thru the Kuranda Range and back into Cairns. A fantastic way of travel on one of the great rail journey’s of Australia.

We stop for morning smoko at the Bullock Creek Café, and lunch at the Railway (what else?) Hotel at Almaden. Afternoon tea is at Dimbulah and a visit to their railway museum. The train also stops at Barron Falls and a short stop at Kuranda. Estimated arrival time into Cairns is at 6:30pm. We meet our coach and transfer back to the Hilton.

Day 11: Cairns

After breakfast at your leisure you have the day to rest, relax or enjoy the final opportunity to look around Cairns and do some shopping. We will gather as a group for our farewell dinner tonight.
